RSS Feed are usually in plain text and summerised ver of a webpage. So no need to worry bout bandwith consumption.

depends on the feed and how frequent it gets updated. subscribing to an Engadget feed for example will mean downloading pictures of average 30kb for each item and ca be as high as 80kb on other items and Engadget updates their blog like crazy so that can be tens of items at a time.

if megabytes is an issue, I'd check closely the kind of feeds I subscribe to.
