Will 750GB 3.5 SATA work with on SATA II up to 3gb/s motherboard?

Question

I'm planning to buy a new Hard drive for my desktop
but i'm not sure if a 3.5 sata will work when i plug it
in a motherboard that supports SATA II up to 3gb/s. The defective HD I am using right now is Western
Digital 80GB Caviar Se Sata II 7200 Rpm 8MB 3.5IN
300MB/S WD800JD Specs:
BIOS: Phoenix-Award WorkstationBIOS v6.00PG
ECS Geforce6100PM-M2 V3.0 motherboard
Chip type: NVIDIA Geforce6150SE/nForce430

Sata is backwards compatible with sata2 so your disk will work but you will only get the 3gbps speed if both the disk and board support it and it's enabled in the bios and driver

lt will work, in real world no hard disk will give you that speed because of disk spinning limitations. That speed  3gb/s is for the sata interface, not your harddisk. You can only go as fast as your disk can spin.
