LOOKING A POWER SUPPLY WITH TWO 12VOLT POWER RAILS

Question

I just got an socket 1156 motherboard frm SA, now the thing is it requires a PSU with a 24pin power connector to power up the board and two 4pin connectors to power up the processor as per the normal single 4pin connector.

I have phoned around most IT companies and they don't stock those kind of PSU's. If anyone can refer me to right place i would be most grateful.

Having looked at the physical specification of that motherboad, l can say it takes fairly every modern Power Surply. There is a shop in Eastgate Mall which sells computer parts.

Rather than phoning them and giving them specifications, l would say take your motherboard there and see if there is anything which can fit your needs. lm saying this because l was there at one point, their techguru asked me if he can help and l said yes please!

l asked him the difference in design between  lntel quadcore processor and AMD quadcore processor, l just thanked him before he finished his long answer and left.

Yeah! Some of our local I.T counter sales stuff are clueless when it comes to the details of their products so much so that at times you would have to point out the product yourself from the shelves.

So i guess i will have to do some leg work come Monday.

And at one point l was in Kombi coming from Chinhoyi and there was another I.T guru in talking to a prospective customer, the potential customer wanted to know a bit of more information about PCs

He asked among other things why Apple PCs where more expensive than say HP and if there was any difference. Our I.T guru said it was because Apple computers where more secure, they require you to log on using finger prints otherwise there is no difference between them, ie Apple is the secure version of Micro$haft. Ndakapa kutenda ndikaramba ndinyerere hangu!

I think the problem is some of these "guru's" don't continue reading up on their trade, the same knowledge they left with from college is the same outdated stuff they using. e.g i had a torid time explaining that 1156 is a processor socket which now old by industry standards but one "guru" kept insisting that the only processor sockets where 478 n 775 and i was mistaken on what i was looking for.

Wooow 478 and 775, l have almost forgot they ever existed those sockets! My first self-built PC was socket 478 loooong time back and l have since got ride of it some years ago!

lm sure you were fuming inside, thus why nowadays when l meet these I.T gurus or hear them talking l never say anything, l keep my mouth zipped!
