Where can i get a free wifi in harare so that people can guys sit and send email for free
by Guru (26.5k points)
free wifi is almost in every corner of harare, all u need to know is the password for the wifi broadcasted, and that alone makes free wifi unavailble to some extend ,except where password is not required

How can it be free when you hav to enter a password?

I have a wifi which if you come near my house you will see the ssid. Bt l pay for it and l dont expect anybody knocking at my door asking for the free password!!

There is nothing for free, get it!

Just so we are clear, are you saying it's ok to use a secured wifi connection without permission as long as you have the password? Gosh, guess i shouldn't have wished all those evil things on the anonymous guy who used up all my month's bandwidth overnight, bringing all work to a halt and forcing me to throw my budget out the window coz well, he had the password!

lets not just comment for the sake of earning points. i am of the notion that when people resort to this forum they are in need of decent and REAL answers. lets not mock them by responding with stupid answers. rather be quiet and let those that have the knowledge and will respond in your stead.

They have to be a commercial purpose for doing that otherwise we need to move away from this mentality that someone have to provide for free, a pure donor syndrome mentality.

if you come kwa Mutangadura every saturday afternoon i have free wifi in my car through powertel till 8PM. Many have enjoyed downloading , skyping, etc. Just a gesture. No password needed
by Guru (88.1k points)
I dont call it free, its restricted to certain times. Also, powertel is not giving you that foe free, you are paying for it.

It is this mentality of trying to get anything for free which is holding us back and making a lot of pple extremely lazy even to think!

Elsewhere in the world, governments are working towards accessible internet for everyone. In Hong Kong for instance, there is city wide free public Wi-Fi with 10,000 free connection spots at over 5,400 locations including libraries, parks, sports grounds, government buildings, stations and shopping malls.

I didnt ask a question just because i want cheap wifi

I was gonna suggest Africa unity square but that seems to have been shut down! http://www.hararenews.co.zw/2013/10/pornography-video-usage-ends-free-internet-at-africa-unity-square/ Guess this is why we cant have nice things! I wish they had tried ip blocking or something before pulling the plug but i understand if they felt it would be throwing more resources into a black hole.
You could try looking for places that offer internet as a value added service. Some restaurants/coffee shops let their patrons surf the net, i know of one in avondale and another in joina city but can't for the life of me remember their names.
If you don't mind the distance, there's also the airport. Its been a while so i'm not sure if its still available, but it had a quick enough connection to do basic stuff on my phone.
