How safe are these cheap phones that have invaded the Zim market?

Do we have any govt department that tests these phones for radiation levels etc?

cheap phones are sold everywhere around the world, so enjoy! Just because a phone is expensive does not mean its 100% good

Thanks macd. However, the fact that these phones are being sold worldwide does not provide me with the assurance that I need. Yes expensive does not equal safety but here we are talking about the relative safety of a genuine branded phone eg Nokia in comparison to a cheaper imitation one. Big brands are known to at least conform to standard radiation thresholds.

Considering the volumes that these phone's are brought in, majority through un-official channels i seriously doubt the S.A.Z has a dedicated testing department nor the manpower for such huge feat.

there are always gona be gray suppliers and having Nokia officially dedicating itself to mass-production of very cheap phone for poor people, yu can imagine how much manpower will be required to test them all

Thanks for the responses guys. However I am concerned that you seem be talking about the testing as if it has to be done on each and every unit that enters the country. I would have thought there would be periodic sampling of models on the market and that information is made available to the consumers or something like that?
