No. NFC is very localized - only broadcasts about 10cm max. But its always on, so that you can put it next to another NFC device and it reacts instantly. The ideas is establishing a connection ONLY when devices are brought close together, within touching distance - as opposed to bluetooth which broadcasts 15 meters. It can also communicate with an un-powered chip - basically it gives that chip the power electromagnetically. Its VERY DIFFERENT from bluetooth. It does not transfer files for example - it establishes a connection and then tells the phone to send a file either by bluetooth or wifi. You can't send a file or listen to music or make a call over NFC like you can over a bluetooth connection. Its been a bit of a flop globally - its relatively useless. Only widely popular in the advances Asian countries Japan and South Korea.
