Ecocash and combi's - privacy implications.

Question

I was just thinking you can pay for combi's using ecocash.  How does the process actually work and does that mean if i were to use a combi and subsequently pay for it using ecocash, the whole bus would know my name?

how would the whole bus know your name? only the driver/conductor would know your name

the rest of the bus would only know your name if you told them....

Well when I do transactions on Ecocash, in particular econet livingstone, they actually encourage you to finish before you get to the counter. Then they simply call your name out to come and complete your transaction.  I assume in the bus they would call out and say who is "so and so" or am i wrong?

follow up question - why is a bunch of random people knowing your name a problem? its hardly "sensitive" information compared to say your date of birth or ecocash pin
