l trying to collect ip information from my switches, although l can get it from switches console, l just want to feel more geek by doing it from my Ubuntu laptop?

On the Extreme switches, the command is Show iparp and on cisco switches its Show ip arp.

i usually use arp -a or arp -i eth1 where as eth1 is my NIC facing the LAN


again so you can use wireshark & capture any details you want that you could get from the switch. Wireshark will make you feel so good and it will bring everything to your finger tips. I used since the days it was called ethereal, guys at mweb used to change their ip's & hostnames that would kaak on my routing and with ethereal i could detect ip changes or hostname changes as and when it happened.
