With the  Econet financial results saying 4% of their revenue is coming from SMS do you think this is true, or does it mean SMS are still being used or they are over priced?

well that percentage of 4% is bound to raise questions but however they needed to specify whether that percentage is from bulk sms sent by companies or from individual customers. At the same time i wont be surprised much because there are people who still sms, this morning came across a friend who was running around looking for the buddie txt scratch card. in reality sms is slowly or has lost value and now Data is the moneyspinner and in the case of Econet their ecocash service is a cashcow.

I think data is bringing in more revenue given that people are now using social apps to communicate at large. eg Fb, Whatsapp , viber etc.

Well, according to a source at Econet, Voice still tops, and it looks like its strill some time before data overtakes, as for SMS, I think the 4% figure also speaks to Bulk SMSs sent by companies, coz very few people still use SMSs, in this day of other data-based chat platforms, thats my 2 cents of thought, no, actually, 0.005 cents per SMS
