My laptop is new but it's model line is 2 years old and out of production. I was thinking of getting a spare battery for it now while they are easy to find but as i wont actually need it for about another 2 years, I was wondering  how long i would be able to store it before it degrades.
The laptop is a sealed design so swapping out batteries now and then would not only kill my warranty but also cause a bit of ware and tear from opening it up and moving parts out of the way.

I think in another 2 years it will be better to buy a new laptop. Your laptop is already old if it is a 2 year old model. In 2 years we might only use phablets instead of laptops........

I know, but its still benchmarking within the bottom bracket of todays top range laptops. And with my planned SSD and ram upgrades within 2yrs, it should give future midrange machines a good run for their money for a fraction of the cost of a new machine.
