I have a 3G router (TP-Link TL-MR3020) which I used for some time to create a wireless access point with Econet and Powertel modems. I recently acquired a new router and i thought i might use this one as a wifi extender. The problem is, it works fine if it is in 3G mode, but in AP mode, no device i tried was able to acquire an IP address, using both DHCP and static IPs. I've tried flashing new firmware to the router but still...same problem. what could be the problem?
(TP-Link support is a waste of time)

thats the procedure that i'm following, but no matter what settings i use, i lose wireless connectivity to the router after rebooting it. i have to reset it in order to regain access...and now theres an interesting development, the default settungs..instead of having an open AP, now have WPA2 encryption with a random 32 character passphrase which changes with every reset. Now i'm really puzzled.
