Your motherboard and intended replacement processor should be compatible in terms of physical fit. A particular processor will only fit into a certain type of socket which has fixed dimensions and number of pins. for example a pentium 4 processor 2.5 ghz only fits into a motherboard with a socket 478 which is a 478-contact CPU socket. You can only replace with a processor which fits into a similar socket. Now pentium dual core  processors need LGA 775 socket which has 775 contacts. Core 2 duo also needs LGA 775 socket on the motherboard. so these processors are not compatible with your board. So the short answer seems to be no. you need to get both a new motherboard and processor.
