It may work, I am not sure. But it can use data instead of BIS/ BES plans. Thus, you simply need your data bundles to use BBM. But as to whether it works or not - no clue

BBM Voice gave an awesome update that now allows for voice calls through BBM over wifi. What this means is that you can call other BBM contacts while in BBM and not use any voice minutes. The calls go over the data network so you get crisp, clear voice conversations without even using the phone app. Add to that the fact that you can still use the text chat while on a call - inluding the ability to send files - and you have a pretty amazing feature. So it is "possible" that it might just work... Above all if you have the cash buy one and try it out

BBM does work in Zim - however, it must be registered in another country and you can use WiFi to get your BBM's. I have not tried 3G to get but I'm sure it will work......

I think you just need data.

It should be able to work. I got mine from BlackBerry since I became an Elite member but I am based in South Africa. Currently I am able to use BBM with no data bundle which means it's going through BlackBerry service. I am eager to check so will ask one of the tech guys. However all else should work via network connection. BlackBerry might attract scrutiny from our security sectors if it can work without needing to get approval from PORTRAZ. From one of the session I attended it was hinted that encryption will now be on the device. Will follow up with feedback from them.

The issue they were having with potraz was about encryption. So it does not matter how its sending or receiving data, it will attract them unless they decide to ignore

But now the messages are no longer going via BlackBerry servers on BB10, if all one need is data bundles to make it work, I do not see how PORTRAZ will be able to block it unless by confiscating everyone with a BB10 device.

They can by blocking ports bb use to send and receive data.

Sure BBM on BB10 will work just like whatsapp via your data bundles
