Depends on the OS...
For iOS visit itunes in app store and get latest version

For Android visit play store on device or on PC and download the latest, there are other sources of Whatsapp on which you can download from (eg apktop.com - its legal) direct onto your PC then use USB to transfer to your device.

For windows phone visit http://www.windowsphone.com/en-us/store/app/whatsapp/218a0ebb-1585-4c7e-a9ec-054cf4569a79 works just as on android. remember to log-in in both cases

open your whatssapp application , select options, then select 'About" and you shall see a link where it is written these words" upgrade available, Upgrade now" then click the link and upgrade there

If you have unlimited internet on PC you can download from brothersoft or androiddrawer,move the app to your SD card and install from SD card to save your mobile data bundle
