Im trying to open a page and it refuses saying: An issue prevented lnternet explorer from displaying the web page. Click the button above to launch HP Network Check to automatically diagnose and repair the issue.

When l click, it need internet connection then it returns an error saying its no a valid address.

Is this a joke or what! Ofcourse l know its not valid because its an private internal address.

If l disable internet it just sit there doing nothing.

Can anybody please prove to me that Windows 8 was made with production in mind?

check its not a dupe address? check its on the correct subnet with right router/dns settings? sounds basic but it happens sometimes doubt thats specifically a windows 8 issue though

Im giving it ip address l want it to access. Im migrating my camera ip range, why is it simple and working on windows 7 and doesnt work on windows 8?
by Guru (57.6k points)
have you confirmed the IP is not conflicting and that it can communicate with the gateway/router ip's manually?

its not an IE problem but a network stack issue - try disabling and re-enabling the interface (usually works for me for random no connection issues)

No Anthony! Im try to access 10.6.4.200, which is the ip address of my camera, Internet explorer is trying to resolve it outside as a valid public ip address which it is not.

If l type the same address on same laptop bt using chrome its going straight to my camera.

thats more helpful info

sounds like IE has some cached proxy settings or something odd - guessing you need IE for the camera interface though? could try making sure all proxy settings are disabled in IE and that its configured not to use proxy for private IP's as well as explicitly entering address http://10.6.4.200 (with the http)

I resolved it by using an old xp machine and did all the settings l wanted from there. Windows 8, what a waste on production time!!!

Worst thing ever to come from Microsoft. I'm forced to use it so I can develop(and test) applications within the environment.

Windows shell does a bit to help.

Here is the crappy bit...the bloody charms bar and the fact that when you open a file, it defaults to an "App" thats assigned to metro(or whatever the UI is called now) e.g PDF. This takes you out of Windows shell and you are in metro. Then you have to do some "mouse swiping" to get out of it or press key-combos to return to Windows shell.

Absolute Mammoth dung!!!

I know enough large companies on Vista - extended support and some just getting into Windows 7. There is no way Windows 8 as it is will survive the office environment where productivity is key.

If I want a phone/tablet, I will buy a phone/tablet. Not a PC

Im spending a lot of time trying to figure out where lm and how to get out of it. Imagine if the network is down, your boss is breathing fire and you are struggling to get cmd or network setting or its throwing default apps at you which it thinks you need!!
