We have companies asking specifically to have the disk we provide readable on Windows bt formartted in Linux ext2 way. Any thoughts about this?

i used to do this myself when i was capturing live video to hard disk with a  sony anycast it recorded onto ext3 volumes

http://www.fs-driver.org/ is what you want to be able to read ext2/3 data

l have realised that l was being limited by the ifs driver on Windows. The etx2 driver expects inode of 128 whereas the new linux kernels writes at 256 inode table.

For drives which are less than 2tb( because ext2 is limited to 2TB data size) here is l got it working:

* download the moundiag.exe and run it on windows machine where the linux disk is plugged

* lt should tell you the reason why ifs driver was not able to load and follow the  instructions.

lm still puzzled by 12TB disk l have on how to make them readable on windows though.

Use NFS and enjoy your storage from the network. You probably need windows 7 and better to mount the NFS shares for free but can still do so on XP & Vista using 3rd party apps.
