Apart from the obligatory markup, Zim logic I guess. One is made of shiny metal and is heavier, the other made of plastic. Ultimately, both phones have a similar retail value (depending on spec), so much so that if you really wanted the htc, you could make a day of it and fly to S.A and back on the difference!
Also, someone here once mentioned that htc generally has an inflated value perception in Zim, so there's that too.

No thats not true, these are charged according to their software and features.
Agreed, just often not in Zimbabwe. If the one had a higher spec than the s4 at the time this question was asked, why have those same phones become almost equal in price today, just as they always were internationally? The features are still the same, and we didn't get a special Zim spec phone. It was just a subjective decision based on which phone “looked” more expensive.

samsung s IV is the real killer man

na i disagree, i have looked at both and prefer the HTC One, stereo front facing speakers, and amazing build quality > gestures i will never use.

its a matter of what you will use or not. Samsung is a killer, though some function were not meant for everyone. Who plays music out loud... on a phone? I prefer to use headsets.

S4 proves to provide more flexibility than One. I still do not think HTC price is justifiable vs S4. since launch till now S4 rocks. One, reminds me of the iPhone prisons.

I would like to share my experience here: I want to buy a new phone . I have read the reviews of HTC and Samsung . Finally, i have decided to get Samsung Galaxy s4 . Because, it contains  a lot of features :
Wireless charging (market dependent)
- S-Voice natural language commands and dictation
- Smart stay, Smart pause, Smart scroll
- Air gestures
- Dropbox (50 GB storage)
- Active noise cancellation with dedicated mic
- TV-out (via MHL 2 A/V link)
- SNS integration
- MP4/DivX/XviD/WMV/H.264/H.263 player
- MP3/WAV/eAAC+/AC3/FLAC player
- Organizer
- Image/video editor
- Document viewer (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF)
- Google Search, Maps, Gmail, etc.

I have looked for unlocked phones. It is too expensive . So, i bought a carrier locked phone and unlock it from. Its really working good .

Because those are two different brands and have different features, don't always expect to find Samsung expensive.
