What ticketing, tracking software to use?

My attention has just been drawn to this open source RT: Request Tracker software( www.bestpractical.com/rt/ ) to use in my work. Is there something else l can try out there?

what kind of support tracking are you wanting and what data are you wanting to track/capture

RT isn't that great from my experience.

for cloud/hosted you might want to try sirportly or zendesk - i've had personal experience with both and they are very good

Are they Windows based and how about licensing. Im looking for internal use for company processes like jobs coming in, progress, problems etc.

they are both cloud based so only require a web browser, they kind of focus more on customer support rather than a job tracker of sorts - but its entirely useable like you want and SLA's are configurable if you want to do stuff like time tracking

The right statement is "issue tracking"

Mine's a development setup(personal).
- SVN because I started and am stuck with it
- Trac issue tracking and ticketing (with an XMLRPC plugin for auto ticketing & changelogging)

I think you can reuse some of the concepts. Also checkout JIRA and its various configuration options and supporting tools

Am sure there are better setups, Google has more answers than you would get here
