I am looking for a displayport adapter to use on a thunderbolt port. The 2 i have seen on classifieds must be made of adamantium or palladium coz eish, those prices...
Anyway, at this point I would settle for anything: dvi, hdmi or even vga. Know where i can find some?

Have a go at Fonoos on George Silundika Ave, Harare, between Angwa Street and First Street, just close to Ximex Mall.

They usually stock cables and computer accessories.

Let us know if you get it and how much damage (financially) it will cost.

Thanks for the tip William but they looked at me like I was asking for a teleportation machine with spinning chrome rims! For the curious, the adapters I found on classifieds (mini DP to hdmi) were going for $100 and $70. Even techtools is asking for $100 (mini DP to DVI), too much for an item that retails for $5 to $10 (Apple does not make them so they are all third party). I think I'll just use emotional blackmail on a friend in Australia, way cheaper even with delivery.

It's a couple of years late but here is the follow up. I gave up on the cable for a while and decided to focus on getting a native displayport monitor and then get a mini displayport to displayport cable. Sourcing these locally for a reasonable price was a non starter so I had to look online. For the monitor I used www.facebook.com/zimboshopper to bring in a Dell U2412m from SA ($391) and the cables from Amazon through www.zimazon.co.zw (i got 2 for $44). Both of these were more or less hastle free, though Zimbo shopper is faster (and able to ship more weight for less) because they operate from SA and Zimazon can take a couple of weeks+ to ship from US warehouses.
