Do windows phones have limitations on local networks?

Question

Was considering buying a windows phone but was advised against it by the dealers who argued that it has significant limitation on our local networks. Is it true?

Yes, it has currently been noticed that Windows phones have challenges with accessing USSD prompts.

If you intend to use a service that is reliant on USSD (e.g. mobile money - EcoCash) then this handset is not for you right now as there are no SMS work arounds.

How come? Is there a specific reason why its like that? are there specific windows phones that behave like that or its a manufacturer thing, May you kindly enlighten me.i have never come across that kind of problem.

not currently, but used to...for a few months and i never had that problem, Lumia 800
