How can I search my iPad for music / apps / files with Spotlight?

I understand Spotlight makes it possible for me to search the contents of my iPad. How do i search for files using it.

if you are on iOS 6, go to the first page which has your apps, this is your home page. Now swipe to the right and spot-light will be revealed where you can search for any INDEXED file you have. To make sure all your files are indexed and will appear in spotlight results make sure you tick all under settings->general->spotlight
