ls there any software l can use to monitor folder/file access?

In less than 7 months, we have used more than 600 terabytes on our NAS and right now we are left with less than 65 terabytes free which l think is going to run out soon.

Im very sure some of the files being kept should not be and l want software, preferably linux which can tell me how many times the file or folder hav been accessed. That way l can tell pple to get rid of data they are not using or havnt used in long time.

you can try the "du -" command, im sure it has bunch of switches/options that can give u what u want.
